HALLOWEEN

Halloween goes back to Celtic  times.
The Celts celebrated their New Year's.
Eve on 31st October and New Year's on 1st November.
They built bonfires to keep away evil spirits and bring confort to soul to purgatory.
The Romans turned the night ot 31st October into Halloween.
Halloween as we know it  today is celebrated by many people specially in USA and Britain.
This costum has moved to other parts of the world because of people moving to other countries.
Both childrem and adults put on their costumes .
Adults go to parties and children go trick or trating with their parents or friends.

Pumpkins are believed to have originated in North America.
The "pumpkin capital" of the world is Morton, Illinois.
The  Irish brought this tradition of pumpkin carving to America.
The largest pumpkin ever grown weighed 1,140 pounds.
Pumpkins are 90 percent water.
Carving a pumpkin into a Jack-O'-Lantern, is very easy and only takes a few basic tools. A large spoon or ice-cream scoop, a thin bladed knife and some newspaper will get you started.
A Jack-O`-Lantern is a carved pumpkin with a candle inside.
The Irish brought the tradition of carving pumpkins into Jack O'Lantern to America.
Jack O'Lantern legend goes back hundreds of years in Irish History.
The history of "Trick'O'Treating" can be traced back to the early celebrations of All Soul's Day in Britain. The poor would go begging and the housewives would give them special treats called "soulcakes"
The tradition of dressing in costume for Halloween has both European and Celtic roots. On Halloween, when it was believed that ghosts came back to the earthly world, people thought that they would encounter ghosts if they left their homes. To avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits.
In Mexico, Latin America and Spain, All Souls' Day, which takes place on November 2. The celebration is designed to honor the dead who, it is believed, return to their earthly homes on Halloween. Many families construct an altar to the dead in their homes to honor deceased relatives and decorate it with candy, flowers, photographs.

END OF YEAR FESTIVAL

This is the song 5º A students are going to dance at the end of year Festival.

These are the lyrics. Read and learn.

Oh, it's gonna be a big night
We're gonna have a good time
It's gonna be a big, big, big, big, big, big night

1, 2, 3, all my boys and girls
We gonna party like it's the end of the world
Let's get it started, started, started, whoa, oh

Waitin' on weekends it's Friday night
We gonna get dressed up
For the time of our lives
Let's get it started, started, started

'Cause I've been feelin' down, down, down
I need a pick me up, round, round, round
I wanna spin it up loud, loud, loud
DJ take me away

Oh
It's gonna be a big night
We're gonna have a good time
It's gonna be a big, big, big, big, big, big night

Oh
It's gonna be a big night
We gonna have a good time
It's gonna be a big, big, big, big, big, big night

It's been a long week
Been workin' overtime
I need a heartbeat
To get this party right

I'm on another level
Turn up the bass and treble
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up

'Cause I've been feelin' down, down, down
I need a pick me up, round, round, round
I wanna spin it up loud, loud, loud
DJ take me away

Oh
It's gonna be a big night
We gonna have a good time
It's gonna be a big, big, big, big, big, big night

Oh
It's gonna be a big night
We gonna have a good time
It's gonna be a big, big, big, big, big, big night

1, 2, 3 call your boys and girls
We gonna party like it's the end of the world
Let's get it started, started, started, started, started
Let's go

1, 2, 3, all my boys and girls
We gonna party like it's the end of the world
Let's get it started, started, started
It's gonna be a big night

Oh
It's gonna be a big night
We gonna have a good time
It's gonna be a big, big, big, big, big, big night

Oh
It's gonna be a big night
We gonna have a good time
It's gonna be a big, big, big, big, big, big night, night
